glimpse of Zanjeer story,A dog, real life hero

In March 1993, a series of 12 bombs went off across Mumbai.

The serial blasts left 257 dead and 713 injured. But in the aftermath, an unlikely hero emerged. According to Reuters, a golden labrador named Zanjeer worked with the bomb squad and saved thousands of lives by detecting "more than 3,329 kgs of the explosive RDX, 600 detonators, 249 hand grenades and 6406 rounds of live ammunition." He helped avert three more bombs in the days following the blasts.

The dog died of bone cancer in 2000, the Pune Mirror reported. He was eight years old.

In the photo above, a senior police officer lays a wreath of flowers on Zanjeer as he was buried with full police honors at a widely-attended ceremony.

Mumbai's police dog squad has been operational since December 1959, the Times of India reported. It began with just three Doberman Pinschers, who were used for tracking criminals.

A labor union leader and dog lover Dilip Mohite told Mid-Day that Zanjeer’s extraordinary detection skills deserved recognition.

“Policemen who die a martyr’s death get accolades, but canine members go unnoticed," Mohite told the newspaper.

How does watsapp make money ?

WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter - They fall into the category of Data-Mining Companies.

They sell your personal information to MNCs and show you ads based as per your interests.

Facebook buying WhatsApp- With this master move, Mark proved he is very intelligent.

For instance- If you send a message to your friend in WhatsApp that you like the Nike Airmax shoes, and later open Facebook, you will see the ad of Nike Airmax at 30% discount.

Smart, right?

This is not illegal, you have accepted the clauses in the terms and conditions ( didn't care to read it, right? ).

There are also other ways by which WhatsApp makes money → subscriptions, payments from all app store ( Google, iTunes, etc. ), download fees ( iOS only ).

Rupee symbol and its story

Udaya Kumar Dharmalingam born on 10 October 1978 in kallakurichi is the designer of the Indian rupee sign.

Amalgamation of Hindi and English:
The symbol is designed using the Devanagari letter ‘Ra’ and Roman capital letter ‘R’. The letters are derived from the word 'Rupiah' in 'Hindi' and 'Rupees' in 'English' both denote the currency of India.

Shrio Rekha:
The use of shrio rekha (the horizontal line) in Devanagari script is unique to India.
The symbol preserves this unique and essential feature of our Indian script which is not seen in any other script in the world.

Tricolor:
The two horizontal lines with equal negative white space (imaginary space) between them create a background effect of three strips (tricolor).
The strips subtly represents the tricolor of our Indian National flag flying at the top.

Equality sign:
The horizontal lines also denote the arithmetic sign 'equal to'. For a common man, a quick indicator of his/ her country's economy is comparison of currency value.
The equality sign also signifies a balanced economy, our economy should be secured and stable forever.

Harmony in design:
The symbol is designed in harmony with the other existing symbols of the world.
It forms a part of the family, at the se time retaining its individuality.

Simple form:
The symbol is designed with a minimal of three strokes.
It makes it easy to write, construct, reproduce and design.

Reason behind GOOGLE changing its logo.

The old logo uses a complicated serif font which can only be created using bezier curves. All together, it has 100 anchor points, resulting in a 6 KB (6,380 bytes) file. When compressed, the size comes down to 2 KB (2,145 bytes).

A simplified version of the new logo, on the other hand, can be constructed almost entirely from circles and rectangles (with the exception of the lower-case g) thus making it low sized.

The entire logo consists of:

10 circles (2 each for the capital G and lower case g, 2 for each O, and 2 for the e)

5 rectangles (2 for the capital G, 1 for the lower case l, 2 for the e)

1 shape made with 7 anchor points (the descender on the lower-case g)

As Google stated on their blog:
The old logo, with its intricate serifs and larger file size, required that we serve a text-based approximation of the logo for low bandwidth connections. The new logo’s reduced file size avoids this workaround and the consistency has tremendous impact when you consider our goal of making Google more accessible and useful to users around the world, including the next billion.

"The next billion" refers to the billion people who are expected to start using the internet by 2016. They are mostly located in parts of Africa and Asia where bandwidth is extremely expensive. In some places, up to 100 times (!) more expensive than in the US.
